Here’s tools to help meet the tax filing deadline
(Harrisburg) — The tax deadline is Tuesday, and for procrastinators, it can be a stressful time.
But the state Revenue Department has some options available to try make sure everyone hits the deadline.
The Taxpayer Service and Information Center is open from 8 am to 4 pm Saturday, and 7:30 am to 7 pm both Monday and Tuesday.
Spokeswoman Elizabeth Brassell says filers can take make the process a bit smoother by taking a simple step.
“Consider e-filing, because e-filing offers advantages both for the department and the Commonwealth, and efficiencies and cost savings, but also to the taxpayer. There are some automatic calculators that e-filing provides, instant confirmation of filing, and refunds processing is made a little faster by electronic filing.”
The state launched PA freefile this year, which offers free tax preparation programs to those making up to $58,000 in federal gross income.
