Mental health center to open in Harrisburg
(Harrisburg) –People coping with bullying, depression, or thoughts of suicide will soon have another place to turn for help in the midstate.

The Foundation for Hope is slated to launch A Place for Hope Community Center on March 1 on Locust Street in downtown Harrisburg.
Trained volunteers will help those dealing with bullying, depression, or suicidal thoughts, just like they would if one called a 24/7 Hotline.
“To provide the support groups, the safe place to go, a place to get active in the community and volunteer, and a place to make sure you stay on track with what you need to get healthy and be well,” saysJesse Gantt, who runs the Foundation for Hope.
Gantt saysit aims to not only address crisis situations, but also offer the necessary follow-up help.
“People that deal with bullying, depression and suicide far too often suffer in silence. They suffer in silence because they don’t know where to turn and they don’t know where to go to be safe. And that’s what the community center creates: a safe place for those dealing with bullying, depression and suicide.”
Gantt says the center is funded through contributions from individuals and businesses, and rent is already paid for the first year.
He adds it will work to remove the stigma around mental health and and plans to hold another symposium on bullying in May.
He says this will provide another way to get people mentally healthy.
