Will the Corbett Administration appeal a Commonwealth Court judge’s ruling released Friday that Pennsylvania’s Voter ID law is unconstitutional?

Judge Bernard McGinley ruled the state didn’t prove there was widespread voter fraud and also also did not make it easy for voters to obtain an accepted form of identification, which in turn may keep those without ID from voting.

If appealed, the case would go to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Gov. Corbett and supporters of the law say it is needed to eliminate or reduce voter fraud.

Opponents say the law was politically motivated and an attempt to suppress voters who traditionally cast ballots for Democrats.

Vic Walczak of the Pennsylvania American Civil Liberties Union and witf’s Capitol Bureau Chief Mary Wilson appear on Monday’s Smart Talk to discuss the case.
