The U.S. Supreme Court made two historic rulings Wednesday related to same sex marriage.

The court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage as between a man and a woman and allowed same sex couples who were married in a state where it is legal to collect the federal benefits of their spouse. In the second decision, the court nullified California’s Proposition 8 that had been approved by the state’s voters. Prop 8 made same sex marriage illegal, but a majority of the justices said those who went to court for Prop 8 didn’t have jurisdiction. Same sex marriages will be reinstated in California.

How will Pennsylvania be impacted by the rulings?

We’ll ask Ted Martin, the Executive Director of Equality Pennsylvania on Thursday’s program.
