York Dentist’s License Suspended, Patients Warned of Risks
(Harrisburg) — A York dentist’s license has been suspended after state investigators determined equipment wasn’t being properly sterilized, and the Department of Health is warning patients of the potential risks.
The dental offices of Doctor Jacqueline Marcin are temporarily closed while the Departments of Health and State finalize their probe. Health Department spokeswoman Aimee Tysarczyk says patients who’ve received dental procedures — like a filling or tooth removal — are being advised to be tested, as a precaution.
“During that investigation we found that Dr. Marcin was not appropriately following infection control procedures, which potentially put her patients at risk for Hepatitis B, C and HIV,” Tysarczyk says.
Marcin’s license was temporarily suspended on April 29th, but no known cases of disease transmission have surfaced.
Tysarczyk says patient safety is a top priority and the agency is working with the dentist to correct infection control procedures.
The Health Department has also set up a hotline to answer questions and concerns at 1-855-265-4613.
