Low Pennsylvania primary turnout and races that followed the party line shed light on what voters can expect this November. As sleepy as the primaries were, political analysts expect high turnout, lots of political spending and hotly contested races in the fall. 

This election will decide which party will control the state Legislature, which could have long-term impacts on national politics. With three Congressional races considered toss-ups by the Cook Political Report, control of the U.S. House of Representatives also runs through the Keystone State. 

Former television news anchor Janelle Stelson won the Democratic primary against Dauphin County Commissioner Justin Douglas. Early unofficial results show her winning with three-quarters of the vote.  

She now gears up to face incumbent Republican Congressman Scott Perry in the fall. Perry won his primary unopposed. 

On Tuesday, Democratic voters across Dauphin County and most of Cumberland and York Counties will choose the next challenger to the seven-term Republican incumbent in the U.S. House of Representatives, Scott Perry. The expected 60,000 or fewer voters, based on previous midterm primaries, have the choice between former local TV news anchor Janelle Stelson and Dauphin County Commissioner Justin Douglas.

The Democratic primary in Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District is starting to turn heads. Janelle Stelson is refusing to debate her opponent Justin Douglas, a Dauphin County commissioner. In turn, Douglas is refusing to endorse Stelson should she win the primary unless she liberalizes more of her positions, including on immigration. 

Immigrant and workers rights activists endorsed Justin Douglas on Tuesday for the Democratic nomination for Pennsylvania’s 10th congressional district, and leveled harsh critiques at the Democratic Party’s leading candidate Janelle Stelson.
