The plan to merge six of Pennsylvania’s 14 state-owned universities was unanimously approved in July by the State System of Higher Education’s governing board.
By Merideth Bucher/WITF and Staff Some 94,000 students – including those at Bloomsburg, Kutztown, Millersville and Shippensburg — would be affected if the system were dissolved. Enrollment has dropped by 22% in the last ten years.
Of the 14 schools in the of Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Clarion, California, Edinboro, West Chester, East Stroudsburg and Kutztown are slated to bring back more in-person learning and activities.
