State law against municipal plastic bag bans on track to end

Philadelphia is beginning the soft rollout of its ban on retailers giving out plastic bags to customers, while Pennsylvania’s two-year-old prohibition on such bans is set to expire later this year.

Philly Council committee moves plastic bag ban to final vote, but kills 15-cent fee

A bill to ban single-use bags and cut down on pollution in Philadelphia streets moved out of committee to a final vote by the full City Council on Tuesday at the cost of losing one of its parts.
