Democrat Eddie Moran declares victory in Reading mayoral election
Incumbent Democrat Eddie Morán defeated his Republican challenger for mayor of Reading by more than 2,000 votes, according to unofficial results from Berks County.
Incumbent Democrat Eddie Morán defeated his Republican challenger for mayor of Reading by more than 2,000 votes, according to unofficial results from Berks County.
“I love this city. Without this city I would not be who I am today,” Gainey said after being sworn in shortly before 2 p.m. “We will work to make Pittsburgh the Pittsburgh you voted for.”
She will become the city’s second Black mayor and just the second woman to hold the position.
Williams has earned the right to campaign this fall to become the city’s second Black and second female mayor.
E Gainey’s win is all the more notable, and presumably more painful for the incumbent, because he and Peduto were once allies.
