The Wolf administration asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency on Wednesday to send strike teams to hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and ambulance companies in the hardest-hit areas of the state.
Appointments at the clinic were intended to be invitation-only, for highest-priority residents in the city’s Phases 1A and 1B. But the FEMA site links circulated broadly, and many signed up without knowing whether or not they were eligible.
According to Pennsylvania’s Department of Labor and Industry, funds provided by the federal Lost Wages Assistance program, which offers an extra $300 per week to qualified unemployment recipients, have run out.
The changes mean that in most cases, FEMA will no longer reimburse states for the cost of cloth face coverings at non-emergency settings including schools, public housing, and courthouses. The policy goes into effect on September 15.
