More than a week after Pennsylvania’s budget deadline, lawmakers remain at an impasse over a spending plan, extending the state’s streak of late budgets to five consecutive years.

Tens of thousands of Pennsylvania residents remain without power Monday after severe thunderstorms swept through the region over the holiday weekend, toppling trees, downing power lines and causing widespread outages.  

As Central Pennsylvania endures another stretch of dangerous heat, social service agencies and local governments are expanding outreach and opening cooling centers to help unhoused residents stay safe. 

As the United States prepares to mark its 250th year of independence, communities across Central Pennsylvania are celebrating the Fourth of July with fireworks displays, festivals, parades and hometown traditions.
