  • Asia Tabb

aired; September 10, 2026

What happens when mathematics moves beyond the classroom and into real-world data and problem-solving? On The Spark, we’ll talk with Dickinson College professors Dick Forrester, Professor of Mathematics and Data Analytics, and Barry Tesman, the Theodore & Catherine Mathias Chair in Mathematics, Computer Science and Quantitative Studies, along with students Claire Muriceak and Carter Strang.

The conversation will explore how mathematics and data analytics are being studied at Dickinson, what students are learning through their coursework and experiences, and how professors and students approach problem-solving and quantitative thinking. We’ll also hear directly from Claire and Carter about their experiences as mathematics students and what drew them to the field.
