Architecture Week 2026 brought hands-on learning, creativity, and design education to communities across Pennsylvania through library events and statewide outreach.

On The Spark, Amyra Weiss of AIA Pennsylvania and Board President Elysia Mikkelsen discuss the effort behind Architecture Week, which included more than 60 volunteers leading story hours and design activities in libraries across 23 counties. The initiative also received a proclamation from the Pennsylvania State Senate recognizing April 12–18 as Architecture Week.

The conversation explores why architecture education matters for young learners, how design shapes everyday life, and the importance of introducing creativity, problem-solving, and community planning concepts to children across the commonwealth.
