Harrisburg’s Capital Area Greenbelt is more than just a trail—it’s a community asset that continues to evolve.

Doug Hill, president of the Capital Area Greenbelt Association, joins The Spark to talk about the upcoming Tour de Belt on June 7, a fully supported ride that gives cyclists a chance to experience the entire loop. He also discusses “Buckle the Belt,” a fundraising effort aimed at rerouting part of the trail impacted by nearby development.

As the region grows, maintaining and adapting the Greenbelt comes with new challenges—from construction detours to long-term planning. Hill also highlights some of the scenic and lesser-known spots along the route, along with trail expansions like mountain biking paths and connecting spurs.

The conversation looks at how the Greenbelt is preserved, improved, and enjoyed by the community.
