A new student-led podcast project, Keystone Curious, is part of a collaboration between local educators and students focused on Pennsylvania history.

The project was led by Caley McGuigan and involved high school teacher Terrance Shepler and elementary school teacher Hannah Langel, who are working with students to research and produce original podcast episodes. Participating students include Kara Hockensmith and Zoe Snyder.

As part of The Spark, host Asia Tabb interviewed both the teachers and students at the Public Media Center to discuss the development of the podcast and the goals of the collaboration.

The Keystone Curious Podcast will explore topics related to Pennsylvania’s history in recognition of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. Students involved in the project will take part in researching, writing, and creating content for the series.

The initiative is being developed in conjunction with Pennon Education and is expected to be released in March on major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

The project provides students with hands-on experience in storytelling, research, and audio production while highlighting Pennsylvania’s historical significance.
