On the show, we spoke with Jimmy Schambach, Executive Director of M28 Ministry, about the organization’s acquisition of a four-unit apartment complex in Camp Hill that will become Esther’s House—dedicated affordable housing for men and women in recovery. Jimmy, whose father Jim Schambach founded the ministry, explained that the project was made possible through a $418,000 award from the Cumberland County Housing and Redevelopment Authority’s HOME Funding program, a critical investment that allowed M28 to take ownership of the property in February. Esther’s House aims to address one of the biggest barriers to long-term sobriety: stable housing. Schambach emphasized that safe, secure living space provides the foundation for recovery, employment and family reunification. While the purchase is complete, M28 is now seeking community support to renovate and update the units—one of which requires a full overhaul—so they meet safety standards and provide dignified housing for future residents. Donations of any size will help fund renovations, repairs, furnishings and code compliance as the organization works to open its doors and offer a second chance to those rebuilding their lives.
