Cherry Crest Adventure Farm is once again in the running for USA Today’s “Best Corn Maze in America” — marking the 10th time the Lancaster County attraction has been nominated.
Owners Donna and Jack Coleman say the recognition never gets old.
“We were honored,” Donna said. “It seems like every year we know the time rolls around when it’s about due. And you often wonder whether it is, but it’s been happening now for so many years in a row. For them to keep coming back to Cherry Crest means something.”
The family-owned farm has been a Lancaster County staple for 30 years. What started as a dairy farm in the late 1980s has since grown into one of the nation’s most recognized agritourism destinations.
“We had no idea what it would turn into, none at all,” Jack said. “Agritourism and agri-tainment became the thing probably 20 years ago. We were just blessed it turned out the way it did.”
The couple says the farm’s mission has always been about more than just fun.
“Probably the most important thing when we started was educating the public about agriculture,” Donna explained. “Bringing people on the farm, letting them see where their milk comes from, where their eggs come from… it’s been great, especially for kids who’ve never experienced farm life.”
Cherry Crest continues to draw families with its ever-changing maze designs. With new technology like GPS planting, no two mazes are alike.
“Each year, we come up with a different design and theme,” Donna said. “That keeps people wanting to come back.”
Voting for USA Today’s “10Best Corn Mazes” runs through September. Winners will be announced this fall.
