The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, 866-366-3723, uses a risk-based inspection reporting process for restaurants and other food handlers.

The Pie Spot @ Phoenixville Farmers Market, 200 Mill St. Phoenixville, Opening, August 16. Pass. Prepackaged pies were not labeled properly with the name of product, ingredient statement, net weight, distributed by statement and/or nutritional facts.

Berwyn Tavern, 625 Lancaster Ave. Berwyn, Complaint, August 15. Fail. Observed a buildup of grease/food debris behind the cook line. Maintain regular deep cleaning schedule to prevent potential pest harborage. Observed a knife in the handwash sink. Hand sinks must be kept free of equipment/food at all times to prevent potential contamination and allow for proper handwashing. Repair/replace the basement steps as they are currently a safety hazard. Remove the wooden base on the floor where the beer boxes are stored to prevent potential rodent harborage. Install a door to the basement to help prevent rodent access. Observed a dead mouse in a snap-trap in the corner of the dishwashing room. Observed mouse droppings as well. Facility utilizes weekly pest control services. To prevent rodent harborage: Continue utilizing pest control services; Deep clean the kitchen regularly of any food debris, grease buildup, pooling water on the floor (things rodents consume); Clean the droppings as well to monitor rodent presence; Fill holes in floors/walls/ceilings to prevent harborage and access; Provide pest reports. Observed a dead bird in the basement next to kegs. Bird was removed by kitchen staff to prevent pest activity.

Canteen @ Fox Rothschild, 747 Constitution Dr. Exton, August 15. Pass. No violations.

Captain Levi M. Hood Lodge #159, 200 E. Market St. West Chester, August 15. Pass. No violations.

Chick-fil-A, 211 Eagleview Blvd. Exton, Follow-up, August 15. Pass. A new drain line has been ordered for the dishwasher. Email a copy of the order/work order and provide a time when it will be installed within 48 hours. Email or text a picture of the new line connected as soon as it is installed.

Chrisetta’s Kitchen LLC, 130 W. Miner St. West Chester, August 15. Pass. A thermometer for measuring the utensil surface temperature in the high temperature dishwasher is not available. Obtain and use daily to ensure a dish surface temperature of 160 degrees F or more is achieved in rinse. Prep sink does not have an adequate air gap of at least 1 inch, between the water supply and flood rim of the sink. Install air gap to prevent potential contamination of prep sink from a backup.
