Canteen @ Overhead Door, 23 Industrial Park Road, Lewistown, July 23. Pass. Food facility is not following the variance procedure for prepackaged foods that was submitted and approved by the department. Observed 18 pints of milk in a cold-hold unit without a locking mechanism. Units were transferred to a cold-hold unit with a locking mechanism during this inspection.

Dunkin’, 10470 U.S. 522 Hwy South, Lewistown, July 23. Pass. Bulk sugar storage container was not labeled with the common name of the food. Exposed food preparation observed at the coffee prep area under dirty ventilation ducts, subject to potential contamination. Observed dried spilled milk on the floor in the walk-in cooler and dried spilled coffee on the floor beneath the coffee brewer. Observed wet-wiping cloths in the coffee prep area, not being stored in sanitizer solution at the proper concentration. Paper towel dispenser empty at the hand-wash sink in the women’s restroom. Employee is not using available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine sanitizer concentration.

First Quality, 97 Locust Road, Lewistown, July 23. Pass. Observed a buildup of dried, crusty soda mixture on the plastic housing around the soda nozzles on the self-serve fountain soda machine. Observed a buildup of a black residue on the white plastic water dispenser lever. An internal temperature measuring device is not available to measure the plate surface temperature of the hot water sanitizing mechanical warewashing machine. Observed a heavy buildup of a black residue inside the ice chute on the self-serve fountain beverage unit. Unit was taken out of service until it can be properly cleaned and sanitized. Observed wet-wiping cloths in kitchen area, not being stored in sanitizer solution. The double exit door in the kitchen of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals. Observed single-service, single-use articles stored on the shelves in the dry storage area that were not in the original protective package. Mops are not being hung to air-dry.

Hotel Wayne, 3643 S. U.S. Hwy 522, McVeytown, July 23. Pass. Observed a buildup of a greyish, slimy residue inside the soda gun holder. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.
