Domino’s Pizza, 767 Middletown Rd. Hummelstown, July 19. Pass. No violations.

Costco Wholesale #327, 5125 Jonestown Rd. Harrisburg, July 18. Fail. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. White plastic containers were observed with visible physical damage, including the shedding of plastic particles. This condition poses a risk of physical contamination. During the inspection, it was observed that the rotisserie chickens taken directly from the oven did not meet the minimum internal temperature requirement of 165 degrees F, as established by the Food Code. The exhaust vents on the ceiling in the deli area were observed with a significant accumulation of dust.

Guras Spice House, 7200 Derry St. Harrisburg, July 17. Fail. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Observed a pan of previously cooked pork stored on a prep table in the main food prep area. Pork was temped at 83 degrees F rather than 41 degrees F or below as required. Corrected on-site. A Food Employee was observed washing their hands at the three-bay sink rather than the designated handwash sink. Educated operator on proper sink usage and corrected on-site. Observed the rear exterior door propped open; no screen door was present. Corrected on-site. Observed the following stored open with no covering in the walk-in cooler: Large pot of soup/curry; Three containers of prepped food items on the walk-in shelf. Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible. No thermometers observed in the bain-marie units in the main food prep area. Observed wet wiping cloths in the main food prep area not being stored in sanitizer solution. Educated operator on proper storage and corrected on-site. Observed squeeze bottle food ingredient containers without a label in the main food prep area. Observed the following food contact surfaces with food residue and/or otherwise not clean to sight and touch: Can opener blade in the rear food prep area; Deli slicer in the rear food prep area – Kitchen knife in the main food prep area. Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Observed the following non-food contact surfaces with food residue and were otherwise unclean: Inside ceiling and handle of microwave in the main food prep area; Exterior doors and handles of the bain-marie unit in the food prep area; Exterior doors and handles of the upright freezer unit in the rear food prep area. Observed pans stored on a piece of racking directly on the floor and not six inches above the floor. Educated operator on proper utensil storage.

Pilot Travel Center #245 (one 9), 7961 Linglestown Rd. Harrisburg, July 17. Pass. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the kitchen area to remind food employees to wash their hands.

Rhode Dogs, mobile food facility Type 3, 220 N. Union St. Middletown, Opening, July 17. Pass. No violations.
