Congress Has Cut Federal Funding for Public Media

Mountain Shadows Rest, 14954 Buchanan Trail E. Blue Ridge Summit, June 26. Pass. Observed two freezers located in back of house to have heavy accumulation of ice condensate. Microwave unit ceiling located in back of house a food contact surface, was observed to have significant amounts of dried food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. (CORRECTED) Observed second microwave unit located in back of house to have sever rusting and food debris on walls and ceiling and was not clean to sight and touch. (CORRECTED FACILITY REMOVED UNIT). Observed Large deli slicer located on stainless steel prep table located in back of house to have significant amounts of dried food residue on the blade and was not clean to sight and touch. (CORRECTED). Observed clean plastic cups, stored wet in a manner that does not allow for draining and/or air drying (wet nesting). (CORRECTED). Floors in the front of house, areas in back of house and the women’s restroom is made of tile and is cracked / roughened / and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Observed fan guard located inside the refrigerator unit located in back of house to have heavy accumulation of static dust and dirt. Filters above the stove are heavily soiled with static dust, grease and dirt and are in need of cleaning.

Checko’s Restaurant, 46 S. Main St. Chambersburg, June 25. Fail. The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Food facility is dirty, and needs cleaned. Food, a potentially hazardous ready to eat food requiring datemarking, in the refrigerator, was not date marked. Observed wet wiping cloths not being stored in sanitizer solution. Food in the refrigerator stored open with no covering. Observed toxic material not clearly labeled with a manufacturer’s label. Microwave oven does not meet the safety standards specified in the Code of Federal Regulations. The vent systems in the kitchen and bathroom need cleaned. Food ingredient storage containers, in the kitchen, is not labeled with the common name of the food. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required.

Chambersburg Aquatic Center, 1 Washabaugh Way Chambersburg, June 24. Pass. Can opener not cleaned and does not allow for cleaning. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. The handwash sink located does not have water at a temperature of at least 85°F.

Giant Food Store #6559, 500 N. Antrim Way Greencastle, Complaint, June 24. Pass. No violations.

Ritas Italian Ice @ Aquatic Center, 1 Washabaugh Way Chambersburg, June 24. Pass. The handwash sink does not have a self-closing, slow-closing or metering faucet to provide water for 15 seconds without reactivation.

Roxbury Holiness Camp, 13763 Cumberland Hwy Roxbury, June 23. Pass. No violations.

Vfw Post #1599, 747 S. Fourth St. Chambersburg, June 23. Pass. Food, a potentially hazardous ready to eat food requiring datemarking, in refrigerator, was not date marked. French fry cutter were dirty and need to be cleaned. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Vent system in walk-in, bathroom, hoods and fans are in need of cleaning. Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher located in the main bar area was 0ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required. Loose rubber door gaskets observed.
