Meadow View Jerseys brand raw milk purchased since April 1 with sell-by dates between April 15 and July 8 should be immediately discarded, the state agency said.
The milk was sold at Meadow View Jerseys retail farm store in Leola and several retail stores in southcentral Pennsylvania, according to the agency. The farm contacted wholesalers that distributed the milk, but the state agriculture department said it could not get a list of customers who purchased it.
Milk samples were tested and confirmed to be contaminated with campylobacter after people who drank the milk reported symptoms of campylobacteriosis, according to the agriculture department.
The beginning of illness usually starts two to five days after exposure, the state agency said. Symptoms include mild to severe diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain and cramping.
Though rare, campylobacter can spread to the bloodstream and cause life-threatening infection for people with compromised immune systems.
A current list of Meadow View Jerseys Dairy distributors was not available, the agriculture department said, but milk with the farm’s label was available at the following locations in 2024:

— Meadow View Jerseys Retail Farm Store: 172 S. Farmersville Road, Leola.

— Ebenezer Groceries: 465 N. Reading Road, Ephrata Borough.
— Everest Indian Grocery Store: 1621 Columbia Ave., East Hempfield Township.
— Forry’s Country Store: 820 Ivy Drive, West Hempfield Township.
— Hilltop Acres: 347 Rife Run Road, Rapho Township.
— Meck’s Produce: 1955 Beaver Valley Pike, Strasburg Township.
— Sensenig Poultry: 843 Furnace Hill Road, Warwick Township.
— The Country Store: 3140, Mount Joy Road, Rapho Township.
