Designed for students entering 7th and 8th grade, this camp invites young storytellers and creators to uncover local environmental stories and bring them to life using our brand-new Digital Creator Studio. Throughout the week, campers will explore what it means to be a critical consumer of information, while being creators of information! Campers will elevate their stories connecting their own experiences to local environmental topics and transform them into vibrant digital narratives. Along the way, they’ll develop skills in brainstorming, media and information literacy, pitching ideas, crafting compelling stories, and producing multimedia content. Through their chosen creative outlets, campers will learn to share their unique perspectives on local environmental topics and raise their voices in meaningful ways.

What makes WITF’s summer offerings unique in the Harrisburg area?
Our 7-12 summer offerings are developed and led by Pennon Education’s very own professional educators. In addition to being led by highly qualified educators, students will have the opportunity to work with experts in journalism and digital creation and production using our brand-new Digital Creator Studio. Through this program, students will elevate their voices, bringing attention to issues that resonate with them.

What will students have access to in the Digital Creator Studio?
Students do not need to have any of their own technology to participate. Students will have access to brand new production equipment to produce their very own digital creations. This includes MacBooks, iPads, podcasting and video recording equipment, a green screen, and editing software.

Do students need to pack lunch?
Because our 7-12 summer offerings are not designed as full days, students do not need to pack a lunch. However, students are welcome and encouraged to bring their own snack and drink.
