The voter registration deadline is quickly approaching in Pennsylvania, considered a battleground state in this Presidential election. We’ll tell you how you can register to vote to cast your ballot this fall. And fracking in Pennsylvania has become a key presidential talking point. We fact-check what is being said, especially when it comes to jobs.

Time is running out for Pennsylvanians who want to vote in the November election but have yet to register.

In this explainer, WITF’s Katie Knol reports the registration deadline is October 21st.

A new “satellite elections office” on Penn State’s University Park campus is now open.

Elections workers will help students and community members register to vote, sign up for a mail-in ballot, and submit ballots early.

Those ballots can’t be counted until Election Day.

Some community members spoke in opposition to this office at previous election board meetings.

They said county commissioners were targeting Democratic votes on campus rather than supporting rural voters.

Republican Secretary of State Al Schmidt, who spoke at Monday’s opening of the satellite elections office, says it’s a challenge to decide where to dedicate resources.

There is voter registration and mail-in ballot assistance at Centre County Senior Centers as well, but they do not have the same level of support as a satellite elections office… Voters cannot currently drop off their ballots at those senior centers.

Gov. Josh Shapiro is poised to sign a bill that requires private insurance to cover treatment for children who stutter.

As WESA’s Tom Riese reports, the legislation has been deeply personal for the western PA lawmaker who drafted it.
