Airdate: Thursday, April 13, 2023

The Spark traveled to the Luhr’s Center at Shippensburg University on Tuesday, April 11 to talk about a Traveling While Black exhibit. The exhibit focuses on the restricted movement of black Americans in this country and the creation of safe spaces for them.

The Traveling While Black exhibit consist of a 20 minute film presented in virtual reality at a replica of Ben’s Chili Bowl – a place that was considered a safe space for black travelers during and after the Civil Rights Movement. Throughout the program, hosts Scott Lamar and Aniya Faulcon spoke with panelists about the exhibit and the issues it raises even today.
