Season 12 of Call the Midwife kicked off last Sunday, and the drama continues this Sunday at 8pm.

Set in 1968, change is in the air in Poplar. Enoch Powell’s Rivers of Blood speech criticizing immigration created heart wrenching tension in Poplar, especially when a group of dockers marched in support of Powell – upsetting Cyril and Lucille especially. The midwives also welcomed a new nun, Sister Veronica who was an instant hit with everyone – except Nurse Crane.

In episode two, Lucille struggles with her mental and emotional health. Sister Julienne discovers a concerning red rash on a patient’s breast and quickly gets a referral to St. Cuthbert’s.
