Schedule Update: The State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II

The BBC and NPR will provide special live coverage of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on WITF TV and WITF 89.5 & 93.3 on Monday, September 19.

On WITF 89.5 & 93.3, NPR’s Morning Edition will provide live coverage from 5:00-8:00am.

On WITF TV, BBC coverage will begin with The State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II at 3:00am and continue until approximately 12:00pm on WITF TV. Following the special coverage, WITF TV will return to regularly scheduled PBS KIDS programming already in progress.

Programs that will be bumped due to this live coverage are BBC World News, Consuelo Mack Wealthtrack, Odd Squad, Arthur, Molly of Denali, Wild Kratts, Hero Elementary, Alma’s Way, Curious George, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Donkey Hodie, Elinor Wonders Why, Sesame Street, Pinkalicious and – potentially – Dinosaur Train.

PBS KIDS programming on WITFK PBS KIDS 24/7 will be available and unaffected by the special coverage. You can also watch PBS KIDS shows on demand through the PBS KIDS Video app.

Then, from 8:00-9:30pm, WITF TV will broadcast The State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II: Events of the Day from the BBC. This will set off a ripple of changes to our original TV schedule for the week.

The U.S. and the Holocaust will premiere Sunday, September 18 at 8:00pm, but episode two will move to a premiere date of Tuesday, September 20 at 8:00pm, and episode three will premiere Wednesday, September 21 at 8:00pm.

Nature: Hippos: Africa’s River Giants and NOVA: Cuba’s Cancer Hope will both be dropped from the schedule to accommodate the shift, and NOVA: Ending HIV in America will be rescheduled for a future date – to be announced.
