Lebanon County resident Jessie Green received a surprise from the vice president of the United States, who touted the Affordable Care Act on its 12th anniversary.
Harris called Green to talk about how the Affordable Care Act helped her family.
“It has meant everything to my family,” Green said on the phone. “This is the first time in so many years, that I don’t even think about my healthcare.”
The White House produced a nearly three-minute video of the calls Harris made to Green and Brenda Hart from Cleveland, Ohio.
Neither Green or Harris went into detail how the ACA impacted Green’s family.
The Affordable Care Act has provided affordable health coverage to more than 30 million Americans, according to a White House official.
The landmark healthcare legislation passed in 2010. Also known as Obamacare, it’s considered former President Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement. Republicans have tried to repeal the law.
President Biden was Obama’s vice president at the time.
