More than 40 million people visited state parks in Pennsylvania in both 2020 and 2021. Those figures represent significant increases from before the coronavirus pandemic.

Many people have decided to hike, ride bikes, picnic or swim at state parks and generally look for recreation in the outdoors since the pandemic began.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has set goals to accommodate more visitors.

DCNR’s just announced 2022 priorities include maintaining momentum, demonstrating a need for $1.4 billion worth of infrastructure improvements and addressing several environmental and climate change issues.

DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn appears on Monday’s Smart Talk with details.
