(Harrisburg)  —  A winter storm, arriving from our south, will bring a mixed batch of precipitation to the midstate.

The storm is forecast to start as snow in our area late this afternoon and continue through the evening hours.

Meteorologist Mike Dangelo, with the National Weather Service in State College, says the Harrisburg area, south to the Mason Dixon Line, can expect 2 to 4 inches.

He says areas to our west, such as Carlisle and Shippensburg, may get a bit more.

Then temperatures are expected to rise later tonight and during the overnight hours.

Dangelo says that will result in the snow becoming mixed with sleet and freezing rain, before changing to all rain overnight.

A leftover mix of snow and rain is possible tomorrow morning before the storm moves out,.. leaving behind a heavy mess to shovel.
