Work is underway to build what you have been asking for, more British comedy. WITF is busy constructing the Bigger British Comedy Block. For the past decade and more we have included two British comedies a week. But now stay tuned for not one, not two, not even three but four comedies on WITF Saturday nights.

This September, WITF presents two hours of silliness from the United Kingdom from 7pm to 9pm. We will feature a mix of classics as well as some newer titles. We will be dipping into the archives to bring you Last of the Summer Wine plus the pick from our A Lot Going On email survey, Are You Being Served? These two titles will be joined by a more recent series Upstart Crow. This sitcom follows the Bard’s fictional early life. His early work is looked down on by the literary establishment, and he is not taken seriously at home by constantly being undermined by his badly behaved parents living in his house. A fourth title in our new block is yet to be announced.

To make room for our exciting expansion of the Bigger British Comedy Block, another important change to note is that we are approaching the end of The Lawrence Welk Show on WITF. As with other PBS stations, the cost to air The Lawrence Welk Show is one of our most expensive among syndicated series, and viewership of the program has been on a steady decline. We bid The Lawrence Welk Show a fond farewell in early August.
