“I Rise”: An American Portrait Series Finale

Go inside the lives of people working to create an antiracist American future. They film themselves doing the hard work, confronting the obstacles and achieving the small victories that could add up to real change in the movement for racial justice.

WITF’s Original American Portrait Production Starring Central PA

The Central Pennsylvania region is home to hundreds of thousands of people. Each person is unique, and part of the American story. Hear from people living in the Midstate, as they share their individual stories in response to thought-provoking prompts such as “I was raised to believe…,” “The tradition I carry on is…,” “What keeps me up at night is…,” among others.

“Whether it’s joy or sorrow, triumph or hardship, family traditions you’ve followed for decades or just the chaos of the morning school run, our goal was to put together a picture of life as it’s really lived, today, “said Heather Woolridge WITF’s Director of Community Engagement. “It’s a chance for residents to give us a glimpse into their life, and a chance for them to be heard.”
