(York) – The former general manager of the York Ice Arena has been charged with two counts of theft, according to the York County District Attorney’s Office.

DA David Sunday filed charges against Michael James Cleveland, 50, of New Cumberland, after a three-year investigation allegedly showed $22,892 missing from rink bank accounts during Cleveland’s tenure.

“I am proud of the remarkable perseverance of our investigators and attorneys throughout this extensive investigation,” Sunday said in a statement Wednesday. “As someone who has prosecuted white collar crimes, I understand both the difficulty in charging and prosecuting, but also the financial harm to an organization and its erosion of trust.”

The DA’s office worked with RKL LLP, a CPA accounting andbusiness consulting firm, to run an audit of the rink’s financial record from July 2, 2014 and August 3, 2017.

RKL determined the $22,892 were never deposited into a rink bank account by Cleveland, who was manager at the time.
