Virtual WITF Election 2020 Event “What’s Next for PA Elections?”

Election 2020 Coverage

Election 2020 Coverage

Join WITF for a panel discussion on election security and voting procedure ahead of the presidential election Wednesday, Sept. 2 LIVE at 7pm on WITF’s YouTube channel.

Pennsylvania’s election code was overhauled last fall for the first time in more than eighty years – and then the pandemic prompted even more changes. Now, still more adjustments could be warranted before Nov. 3 due to several election lawsuits, public health concerns still surrounding in-person voting and U.S. Postal Service upheaval. And don’t forget: many of those who vote in person will encounter new machines for the first time.

WITF Reporter Emily Previti will moderate a panel with:

  • Chris Deluzio, Policy Director for the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Cyber Law, Policy, and Security (Pitt Cyber)
  • Forrest Lehman, Lycoming County Director of Elections and Registration
  • Suzanne Almeida, Redistricting and Representation Counsel for Common Cause/Interim Director for Common Cause PA

We’ll examine the new rules governing voting in Pennsylvania, what might still change, how election officials are adjusting operations in response to the pandemic – and what it all means in this battleground state where stakes will be especially high.

If you have questions you’d like us to address during this conversation, email us at discuss@witf.org.
