(Harrisburg) — Drivers on the Pennsylvania Turnpike for the Thanksgiving holiday will have plenty of company.
More than 3.5 million vehicles are expected to hit the toll road between Tuesday and Sunday this week.
Officials say the heaviest traffic will be Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., with another busy period from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Thanksgiving Day and Saturday are predicted to be the least traveled days.
This is the first year deer rifle season opens on the Saturday after the holiday, instead of Monday, which could affect traffic volumes and delays on Friday and Sunday.
