(Harrisburg) — Pennsylvania’s Republican Party will meet October 19th to name its candidate in a special election for a midstate Senate district.

Former state Senator Mike Folmer resigned the seat after he was charged with possession of child pornography.

The 48th Senate District covers all of Lebanon and parts of Dauphin and York counties.

At the upcoming meeting, each county will have a share of 72 district electors. Candidates will have a chance to speak before the representatives vote.

Any registered Republican, 25 years or older, who lives in the district may seek the Party’s nomination.

Interested candidates must send a letter of intent as well as their resume or CV no later than Friday, October 4th, 2019. The letter of intent can be emailed to Gerry Wosewick at Gerry@pagop.org

Conservative activist Matt Brouillette has already declared his candidacy.

The special election is scheduled for January 14th, 2020.
