(Charlotte, North Carolina) — The Hershey Bears are glad to be leaving Charlotte, North Carolina,.. at least for now.

The Charlotte Checkers used their home ice advantage at the Bojangles’ Coliseum to take a two games to none lead in the best-of-seven Atlantic Division Finals of the American Hockey League Playoffs.

After beating the Bears 4-1 in the series opener Friday night, the Checkers offense went into high gear and pounded the Bears Saturday night 7-3.

Hershey managed to keep the score close at 3-2 after two periods on goals by Jason Megna and Ryan Sproul.

But the Checkers tallied four times in the final twenty minutes to run away with game 2.

Charlotte had the AHL’s best record during the regular season.

Game 3 is Tuesday night in Hershey.
