The House Has Voted to Rescind Public Media Funding

This vote threatens federal support for programming on WITF — putting at risk educational programming, trusted news and emergency communications that our community depends on produced locally and from PBS and NPR. Now the proposal heads to the Senate.

Your voice is urgently needed. Call your senator and donate today to help protect the future of local public media.

Read the grand jury report on child sex abuse in 6 Pa. dioceses

A redacted version of the grand jury report on child sexual abuse within six Roman Catholic dioceses in Pennsylvania was released just ahead of a court-ordered deadline.

The extensive report profiles more than 300 clergy members from all six Roman Catholic dioceses investigated over the course of more than two years. By comparison, the 2002 Boston archdiocese investigation named between 150 to 250 priests, and the 2005 Philadelphia archdiocese grand jury report identified over 60 priests.

“Let me be very clear. My office is not satisfied with the release of a redacted report,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said when announcing the release. “Every redaction represents an incomplete story of abuse that deserves to be told.”
