Third officer involved in Harrisburg shooting identified

(Harrisburg) — The Harrisburg Bureau of Police has identified the third officer involved in the shooting that killed Deputy U.S. Marshal Christopher Hill.
The bureau says Harrisburg City Officer Jeffrey Cook was hit in the chest by gunfire, but avoided injury because he was wearing a ballistic vest.
Cook is a 27-year veteran of the force.
Kyle Pitts, an officer from the York City Police Department, was wounded and required surgery.
The three came under fire while serving an arrest warrant for Shayla Lynette Towles Pierce in Harrisburg’s Allison Hill neighborhood last week.
Kevin Sturgis, of Philadelphia, has been idenitifed as the gunman. U.S. Attorney Dave Freed said Sturgis was fatally shot as he ran from police while firing at them.
A public memorial service will be held at the Giant Center in Hershey Thursday for Deputy Hill.
