What to look for on Smart Talk Friday, April 17, 2015:

After 50 years, WITF is looked upon by many as a Central Pennsylvania institution.

Since WITF-TV signed on the air November 22, 1964, the station has produced unique and remarkable local TV, radio, digital programs, and multimedia events and documentaries focusing on education, news, history, the arts, science, and the community.

During WITF’s 50th anniversary, the station is looking back at its proud past but also looking ahead to the future.

WITF President and CEO Kathleen Pavelko appears on Friday’s Smart Talk to discuss the past, present, and future.

Also, a little more than one year ago, Bishop Ronald Gainer took over as the leader of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg.  Since then, he’s pledged to focus more on the poor, but also made national news for a controversial policy.

WITF’s Ben Allen sat down with Bishop Gainer to reflect on his first year in the diocese.

Finally, WITF’s Capitol Bureau Chief Mary Wilson reports on a Republican plan for property tax relief as part of her Capitol Week-in-Review.
