‘What a Wonderful World’ for DaNica Shirey”

What a wonderful world it is for DaNica Shirey.

Shirey, a York County native, advanced to the Top 8 group of singers on NBC’s “The Voice” Tuesday night.

She did it, once again, by securing America’s vote.

In the elimination show, Shirey accompanied her coach Pharrell Williams on stage for a rendition of “What a Wonderful World.” Minutes later, her name was announced.

Before her Top-10 performance, Shirey worked with diva Diana Ross and received praise from producer and executive Clive Davis.

While the Top 10 met with Davis before the show, Shirey sang for Davis, leading Davis to tell the other nine contestants, “You guys have very tough competition here.”

Shirey then performed Whitney Houston’s classic “I Have Nothing,” which received even more praise from “The Voice” judges.

“Can you do it again?” remarked Gwen Stefani. “You just keep getting better and it’s so much fun to watch.”

Adam Levine added, “You had the chips stacked against you. Even considering that, this song isn’t something you can give to someone unless they can do what you just did.”

Williams told Shirey, “My mind is blown. When I first met you, there was a bit of hesitation in your voice. All you have to do now is just believe. Your dad is watching and since then, you haven’t looked back. I’m so happy for you.”
