Family Profile:

Meet the Friedman’s! Martin and Robin, sweethearts since their teens, they think PA is a beautiful state with a lot to offer! They reside in Broomall and made the four hour journey to check out Johnstown, PA, a town that was hit by a disastrous flood in 1889.

Martin is an educational technology consultant and Robin is a teacher. When they aren’t working, they enjoy hiking, biking and cultural events!

Learn more about the disaster from exhibits and artifacts that vividly illustrates the events of that fateful day, and learn about the reaction of the nation and the world, and the town’s triumphant recovery.

 

Vale Wood Farms Tour
Tour a working dairy farm and processing plant and get a unique opportunity to learn about all aspects of the dairy industry…you might even get to milk a cow!

Heritage Discovery Center
The Center’s interactive exhibits let visitors experience firsthand what it was like to be an immigrant to Johnstown around the turn of the century, coming through the gates of Ellis Island to build a better life.

 

Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center
Once an active soap pop bottling plant, the Bottle Works has been transformed into a resource center celebrating the ethnic arts. Get a hands-on experience in one of their artistic or ethnic cooking classes.

Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art
The gallery develops an exhibition calendar designed to enhance the university experience and the cultural environment of the region.

Powell Stackhouse Park
