Pittsburgh Irish Festival
Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania claim a strong Irish heritage, dating back to the 18th century. For nearly 20 years, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival has been preserving and contributing to the rich cultural expression of Irish history that exists in the region. Today, the vibrant Celtic colors and ethnic beats attract people from around the globe to take part in the celebration.
Gaelic Storm
It has now been more than a decade since Gaelic Storm's career lifted off with their appearance in the blockbuster film Titanic. Since their big-screen debut 10 years ago, the band's fan base continues to multiply with each new album, turning the one-time-pub-band into one of the premier touring acts in the Celtic/World music genre.
Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG aquarium
Are you an animal lover? If so, there’s only one place to visit when you’re in the land of steel…the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. Located in Pittsburgh's Highland Park, it’s is home to over 4,000 animals representing 475 species.
MeadowCroft RockShelter
Looking for a down to earth side trip away from the hustle of the city? Head to Meadowcroft Rockshelter located about an hour east of Pittsburgh along the border of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Meadowcroft has provided archaeologists with a rare glimpse into the lives of the first people to arrive in the New World as it reveals the earliest evidence of man in North America.
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
Nature lovers tend to explore the outdoors, but in Pittsburgh, nature can be found indoors at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Here you can encounter the wonders of the natural world behind the glass walls of the most energy efficient conservatory in the world.
Carnegie Museum of Natural History
They may have lived 65 to 85 million years ago, but today at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, you can experience dinosaurs as they were at the Dinosaurs in Their Time Exhibit, complete with two T-Rex skeletons ready for battle.
