ARTISTS’ TRAIL: ROUTE 45
Itinerary
PALMER MUSEUM OF ART
So you want an inexpensive way to connect with fine art. You got it. Stop by the Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State University. Admission is free, how fabulous is that? The museum's permanent collection of more than 4,000 pieces from 35 centuries of painting, sculpture, ceramics and works on paper will keep you mesmerized for hours.
ACCUWEATHER HEADQUARTERS
If you feel more comfortable tracking complex weather systems than appreciating fine art…a tour of AccuWeather is just the directional shift you need. Founded over 40 years ago, AccuWeather is one of the most trusted names in weather prediction. Their world headquarters, located in the heart of State College, boasts the largest number of meteorologists under one roof.
ZOLA NEW WORLD BISTRO
All that weather prediction can really build up an appetite. For chic and sophisticated fare, stop by Zola New World Bistro where Chef Paul Kendeffy creates unique culinary works of art.
R.B. WINTER STATE PARK
Instead of hibernating when the temperature plummets, get outdoors and check out the park’s lake, hiking trails and beautiful winter scenery.
PENNS CREEK POTTERY
Next stop on the Artists’ Tail…Mifflinburg. Located just 4 minutes off Route 45, housed in a historic grist mill, is Penns Creek Pottery. A potter for 30 years, Bill Lynch appreciates how pottery brings people together. Visitors to his workshop and showroom can watch his art take shape before their very eyes.
THE MAGPIE GALLERY
Just 9 miles east of Mifflinburg on Route 45 lies the artsy town of Lewisburg…home of Bucknell University. The downtown business district is tucked away off the beaten path and is a hidden gem well worth exploring for the day. While in town check out the Magpie Gallery. This eclectic shop features an array of contemporary art and crafts by the finest regional artists. Just like a magpie, gallery owner Paula Swett takes pride in collecting unique décor for your nest.
