FAIRS & FESTIVALS: BEDFORD COUNTY
Itinerary
FALL FOLIAGE FESTIVAL
The Bedford Fall Foliage Festival is a tradition over 40 years old. Run entirely by volunteers, the event draws nearly 35,000 visitors every year. Browse and shop in more than 400 craft booths lining the streets and square. Plus you’ll find plenty of live music, children's activities, and festival foods to make it a full weekend of fun!
OLD BEDFORD VILLAGE
From the French and Indian War to the Whisky Rebellion, Bedford played a major role in development of the Western Pennsylvania frontier. You can see where the past meets the present at Old Bedford Village.
BLUE KNOB STATE PARK
Revel in the peaceful serenity of mountains and streams at Blue Knob State Park. The park boasts year-round adventure on over 5000 acres of woodland and 18 miles of trails. Hikers and mountain bikers will fall in love with the spectacular views along the way.
SLINKY/JAMES INDUSTRIES INC
Who knew a simple spring with a catchy name would become an American icon. In 1943, mechanical engineer Richard James made history when he invented one of the greatest toys of all time…the Slinky!
Unfortunately…the Slinky factory isn’t open to the public. But…you’re in luck because the next best thing is just down the road. Let loose at:
Slinky Action Zone
a super sized arcade and family fun center that pays homage to a pop-culture icon.
THE MONSOUR SHEEP FARM
Experience the simple life at Monsour Sheep Farm…just a short drive from historic downtown Bedford. Stay in one of 4 uniquely different vacation homes nestled amongst pasture and woodlands. Plus, get a first hand look at modern day sheepherding!
BISON CORRAL
Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam! You don’t have to drive far on Route 30 before you run smack dab into the town of Schellsburg…home of the Bison Corral. Stop by the gift shop for all things bison then hop in the car and take a quick drive to see if you can spot the herd as they graze.
BOYERS ORCHARDS
What better way to celebrate the harvest season than by picking up fresh-and-juicy apples straight from the orchard. Boyer’s Orchards in New Paris grows 15 different varieties plus three kinds of peaches and two varieties of pears.
