Pennsylvania Homecomings: Fayette County & The Posch Family Reunion

Our travelers Aimee and Mindy are up for a wild adventure when they reunite with their relatives in Fayette County. Year after year the Poschs come home to relive fond memories and to pass on family history to younger generations. Beyond the reunion there are loads of unique activities to keep our travelers busy…like taking on the rapids of theYough River, touring Fallingwater, off-roading at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and learning about the French and Indian War at Fort Necessity.

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

DAY ONE
Family Reunion segment at Deer Lake

White Water Rafting at Ohiopyle State Park
• More than 14 miles of the Youghiogheny River Gorge churns though the heart of Ohiopyle. The famous Lower Yough, below the scenic Ohiopyle Falls, provides some of the best whitewater boating in the Eastern U.S.

Tour Fallingwater
• Fallingwater is the only remaining great Wright house with its setting, original furnishings, and artwork intact. Over two million people have visited Fallingwater since it opened to the public in 1964.

Explore Nemacolin Castle
• Overlooking the Monogahela River, Nemacolin Castle stands proudly as silent witness to Brownsville's historic past.

DAY TWO
Off Roading at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
• Hop into the driver’s seat of a Hummer and discover the excitement of off-roading.

Visit Fort Necessity
• This National Park commemorates the events surrounding the start of the French and Indian War. The main park unit contains the reconstructed Fort Necessity, the Visitor Center, the historic Mount Washington Tavern, a picnic area, and hiking trails.

Become a zookeeper for a day at Woodland Park Zoo
• So you'd like to be a zookeeper? Here's your chance! Woodland Zoo's new Zookeeper For a Day Program was designed to give a behind the scenes experience for anybody willing to roll up their sleeves and work while having some fun. Participate in many of the zoo's daily chores like feeding, grooming and the general care of the animals.
