DAY ONE
Explore the Daniel Boone Homestead
• Daniel Boone Homestead has been restored and furnished to depict rural life in the 18th century and the cultural diversity of eastern Berks County. The home of Daniel Boone's birthplace in 1734 is arranged to interpret the Boone Family and the story of early settlement in the Pennsylvania region.
Take in the arts at Goggleworks, Reading
• For a taste of Reading’s arts and cultural scene meet with a resident artist and get a hands-on look at the artistic process
The Reading Area Firefighters Museum
• Check out daily life in Reading at The Reading Area Firefighters Museum is committed to the preservation of the 1876 built structure at South Fifth and Laurel streets. This includes the building contents consisting of firefighting memorabilia, antique furnishings, and the John Wanamaker designed "best room."
Enjoy the outdoors at French Creek State Park , Elverson
• Set amidst the old, quaint and picturesque farmland of southeast Pennsylvania, French Creek offers two lakes, Hopewell and Scotts Run, extensive forests and almost 40 miles of hiking and biking trails. Adjacent to the park lies Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site that features a cold-blast furnace restored to its 1830s appearance.
