Follow Sarah, Janelle, Rachel, Brian and Ryan as they make a pilgrimage to Punxsutawney for the annual Groundhog Day Celebration. These adventurous seniors from Allegheny College in Meadville will meet Phil himself and uncover the origins of this century old tradition. They’ll also discover other unique attractions along the way including: the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center, Parker Dam State Park, The Jimmy Stewart Museum, and Windgate Vineyards.

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

DAY ONE
Visit Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center
• Discover the science of Weather at the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center. Hands-on exhibits teach weather concepts through technology and folk lore.

Tour Punxsutawney Area Historical & Genealogical Museum
• Brush up on your Groundhog Day history at the historical society.

Visit the Groundhog Zoo
• A natural habitat featured in the children's library of the Mahoning East Civic Center, downtown Punxsutawney. A window gives visual access to Punxsutawney Phil, the world's official weather prognosticator. Plus meet, feed and learn about Phil from the Inner Circle.

DAY TWO
Enjoy Parker Dam State Park
• Learn about the park’s lumber heritage and participate in a Lumberjack Competition

Tour the Windgate Vineyards
• Part of Pennsylvania’s Groundhog Wine Trail, Windgate began as a vineyard, then expanded to become a producer of fine, estate-grown wines. Currently, the winery produces and bottles over 8,000 gallons of wine every year.

Visit The Jimmy Stewart Museum
• Celebrate the life and work of this beloved entertainer. Located in Stewart's hometown, the museum highlights his role as military hero, family man and award-winning actor. If you’re lucky The Museum's own "Harvey" will give you a very special welcome and explain the mysterious ways of the pooka.
