Some of Pennsylvania’s best-kept artistic secrets aren't just found in museums. So we sent Glenn and Laura Keaveny from Camp Hill in Cumberland County on a road trip along Route 202. Watch as they discover hidden artistic treasures in New Hope, Doylestown and Chadds Ford. Plus meet the artists and craftspeople that call this area home. Stops include Nakashima Woodworkers, the Moravian Tile Works, Harvey Galleries, the Brandywine River Museum, and C’est La Vie Bakery.

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

DAY ONE
Tour the James A. Michener Art Museum, Doylestown
• The museum calls itself "the art and soul of Bucks County” and is dedicated to featuring the work of local artists with pieces from Colonial times to the present.

Learn to make tiles and mosaics at the Moravian Tile Works, Doylestown
• This National Historic Landmark is a working history museum which still produces decorative tiles and mosaics using a technique similar to Henry C. Mercer’s original process.

Visit Harvey Galleries, Lahaska
• Visit a working art gallery and watch as the Harvey’s create fountains, sculptures and mobiles.

Experience Nakashima Woodworkers, New Hope
• On a quiet hillside compound near New Hope Pennsylvania, George Nakashima, his family, and fellow woodworkers created exquisite furniture from richly grained hardwoods.

DAY TWO
Test your culinary skills at the C’est La Vie French Bakery, New Hope
• Learn to make sweat treats with Joel the French pastry chef.

Tour the Kuerner Farm, Chadds Ford
• For more than 70 years, the Kuerner Farm has been a major source of inspiration to Andrew Wyeth. Since his earliest painting of the farm in 1932 at the age of 15, Wyeth has found subjects in its people, animals, buildings and landscapes for more than 1,000 works of art.

Explore the Brandywine River Museum, Chadds Ford
• The museum is internationally known for its unparalleled collection of works by the Wyeths and its fine collection of American illustration, still life and landscape painting.
