Growing Up In... : An Overview “Our Town” and “Growing Up In…” are special one-hour programs based on the premise that no one knows a community better than the people who live there. So WITF gives them an opportunity to become the producers of a show about their hometown. In the “Our Town” series, residents highlight their town’s history, attractions and interesting citizens. They tape footage with their camcorders, comb through their photo albums and talk on camera about what makes their town such a special place to live. A “video scrapbook” rather than a traditional documentary, the final result is a series of stories told with the passion that only a town’s residents can convey. “Our Town” has evolved into a new series, “Growing Up In…” where older residents reminisce about what it was like to grow up in their town, adults talk about their children’s favorite places and activities, and young people share what they like to do today. Whether you grew up in that particular town or not, viewers enjoy watching to find out what might be a fun place to visit…and to remember the love that they feel for their own hometown.
